The South Whidbey Historical Society conducted an inventory of historic places between 1989 and 1991.
The following is a list of buildings identified and information gathered.

- #15 Clinton Schoolhouse – Clinton Location: Central Ave, Clinton Builder: Year built: 1930’s Owners: School District, Lloyd Grant Notes: Was built in the 1930’s as a school after the Deer Lake school burned down. After consolidation of schools on So. Whidbey, it was used as a chicken hatchery by Llyod Grant (father of Norma Grant Metcalf). The building has also been used as a Liquor Store and Apartment building.
- #16 Island Schoolhouse – Maxwelton Location: Bailey and French Rds. Builder: Year built: Owners: School District, John & Grace Burley Notes: This school served the Maxwelton area prior to consolidation.
- #17 Friends Meeting House – Maxwelton Location: French Rd. Builder: Year built: Owners:Friends, Jenny Hall, Barney Heinz Notes: Original location of this Friends Meeting House building was on First St. in Langley and the building was moved to this site.
- #18 Herbert Green House – Maxwelton Location: Builder: Year built: 1920s Owners: Herbert & Emily Green Notes: Home to a longtime Maxwelton family. Clay, Verna, Everett, Lester, and Darrell Green all lived there.
- #19 St. Peter’s Lutheran Church – Clinton Location: Builder: Year built:1908 Owners: Notes: Ground for the church was given by Chris and Martha Berg. It was cleared in 1908 and construction began soon afterward. (Prior to the new building, services were held in private homes – a minister came by boat from the mainland.
- #20 Blue Gate Antiques – Clinton Location: Cultus Bay & Goldfinch Rds. Builder: Year built: 1860s Owners: Lillian Tucker Notes: This Finnish log cabin was disassembled and rebuilt in the Freeland area.
- #21 Kyllonen House – Clinton Location: Campbell Rd, east of Maxwelton Rd. Builder: Year built: Owners: Swanie Kyllonen Family Notes: Home to Grace Prentice, Mary Galbreath, and Esther Stockholm.
- #22 Hagstrom House – Maxwelton Location: Swede Hill Rd. Builder: Year built: 1911 Owners: Notes: Maxwelton had a post office and store where groceries were brought by boat. Other Swedish families (Hjort, Erickson, Johnson & Swanson) bought land on the hill above Maxwelton, hence the name “Swede Hill.”

- #37 SW History Museum – Langley Location: 2nd St. Builder: Jacob Anthes Year built: Owners: Anthes, Blackie Anderson, Alma Gristr Notes: Served as a bunkhouse and cookhouse for the brush cutters working for Jacob Anthes. It was later owned by Blackie Anderson, whose daughter Alma Grist bequeathed it to the South Whidbey Historical Society in 1989. It now serves at the South Whidbey Historical Society Museum.
