The Whidby Islander

The South Whidbey Historical Society is digitizing copies of Island County newspapers, including The Whidby Islander, which was the newspaper of the Free Land Socialist Utopian Colony.

Please note that some issues contain words that are offensive, racist and xenophobic. This is a reflection of some of the prevalent attitudes of the times and also existed in more mainstream newspapers as well. We have not endeavored to censor or sanitize the content of these historical documents, believing that it is important to understand the scope and depth of prejudice that existed.
