Consider volunteering at the Museum…

Have a passion for history?  Love to share your knowledge of local lore?  Enjoy meeting off-Island visitors?  Helping children with information for a history project? Perhaps you just enjoy being around items from yesteryear.

We have a place for you on our volunteer team, and we promise we won’t burn you out.

The South Whidbey Historical Society is made up of volunteers working to keep the museum in operation and recording and preserving the history of South Whidbey Island.

We are always in need of those who can give time to the Society. When our Museum reopens after pandemic restrictions have been lifted, docents will be needed for the times when the museum is open weekends from 1 to 4 p.m., and additionally on Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. during summer.

Many of our docents have unique backgrounds who love to share in the history of the island with visitors. Consider volunteering for other activities like parking cars during the Island County Fair or as a Docent in one of our buildings on the Fairgrounds.

Help out with grant writing, archiving, gardening, maintenance, membership, or archiving. Our Board is always looking for individuals with fresh ideas to guide us into the future, consider joining the Board of Directors or becoming an officer. If you can volunteer in any way, simply contact us and tell us how you would like to be involved. We will take it from there.
