The South Whidbey Historical Society works hard to preserve and share our south end community’s unique history.

In 2019:

  • Nearly 2,000 people visited our museum in Langley.
  • 18 Langley History Walking Tours attracted more than 225 people.
  • Nearly 3,000 people regularly followed our Facebook posts and videos and more than 7,000 people accessed our website.
  • All public school fourth-grade classes visited our museum.
  • Two Then and Now presentations drew heavy attendance.
  • Our 2nd annual bus tour on the Era of Fishing Resorts sold out.
  • Hundreds of people toured our cabins and farming equipment
barn during the Whidbey Island Area Fair.

We have great plans for 2020, but continued efforts depend upon the donations we receive.

To that end, please consider making a meaningful gift to the South Whidbey Historical Society via the PayPal DONATE button above.

Donations to the South Whidbey Historical Society are very much appreciated and are tax-deductible.

You may choose to designate a general gift, a gift to the Endowment, or specify a module which you would like to see your donation go towards developing.

A video module costs between $250 to $500 to create and there are several we would like to do for this website. Areas you may choose to sponsor include:

  • Interviews with Island Sons / Island Daughters and Summer Cousins
  • The Geology of South Whidbey
  • Native Peoples
  • Pioneers & Settlers
  • Logging Camps
  • Early Schools
  • Early Churches\
  • Ferries & the Mosquito Fleet
  • South Whidbey Industries
  • South Whidbey Cemeteries
  • South Whidbey Community Park

In addition, you could also designate a donation to the Society’s Endowment Fund which is being built with the idea in mind of being able to hire a part-time Museum director.
