Nearly 100 people attended today’s South Whidbey Historical Society presentation by local researcher Kyle Walker on a project which encompasses Snohomish Tribal history on South Whidbey between 1850 and 1920 , with a focus on Sandy Point.
Special thanks to Snohomish Tribal Council members Pamela Bond and Joel Christoe.
After opening remarks by South Whidbey Historical Society Board President Bill Haroldson, Pamela gave a welcoming message, traditional blessing, a song, and then presented the South Whidbey Historical Society with gifts of traditional woven wool skirt and shawl (winter attire). She also presented traditional individual gifts to Board members, Langley Mayor Scott Chaplin, Langley Council member Rhonda Salerno, plus those those in attendance.
We are excited about moving forward together in learning and sharing the history of the Snohomish Tribe on South Whidbey.
