We love it when people donate their local collections to the South Whidbey Historical Society. A few weeks ago Drew Kampion (founder of the famous Drewslist) donated his complete collection of ‘South Whidbey Loon’ issues to the Society. The Loon was a local publication started in the mid-1980’s of environmental and social justice articles, poetry, artwork, community news, and celebration. It was distributed in self-called “Loony Bins” located at South end businesses.South Whidbey Historical Society curator and Board member Joan Handy and archivist Lorinda Kay work each week to catalogue, document and photograph our growing collection.”
