It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that longtime South Whidbey Historical Society Board member and a past president, Tom Nack, died last week. His gentle humor, wise direction, and southern drawl, will be greatly missed. Our condolences to his wife, Miriam and his children.

‘Col. Tom’ as he was sometimes greeted (for he was a retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Colonel) helped to renovate the Museum and served as President for several years beginning in 2002. He continued to attend monthly Board meetings and serve as a docent up until shortly before he and Miriam moved to Bellevue. He also oversaw the Historical Society Endowment for many years.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to the South Whidbey Historical Society, Good Cheer Food Bank, or the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
